Church Music for Lent, Holy Week and Easter… some reflections

Twelve months on from lockdown in 2020 we find ourselves in the middle of Lent 2021, heading towards another Holy Week and Easter where the vast majority of choirs and orchestras remain silent. Yes, we can point to TV appearances by small, very select “bubble” choirs (Cathedral Choir Schools being one example), and we have seen some music produced in empty large spaces with very careful social distancing........
